Hello everyone,
My wife and I just booked our flights from Boston to Detroit for the UNH vs. Toledo football game on Sep. 1. We are flying in early on Sep. 1 and leaving on the afternoon of Sep. 2, so we need to really make the best of our time in Toledo. We are leaving our two (under two) kids at home so we want to have a really fun day/night in Toledo.
A few questions for the Rocket faithful:
1. What is the best place to stay downtown. We want to be within walking distance of nighttime activities.
2. What are the "must see's" in Toledo in terms of sightseeing and activities?
3. What are the "must eats" in Toledo
4. What is the tailgating situation like? Any rules, regulations, (i.e. start time, finish time, glass prohibited etc.) that we should be aware of?
5. What are the best places to go out after the game on Thursday night. We are in our late 20's and are looking to enjoy our time without the kiddos.
Thanks in advance for any info you may provide.

I agree with Guest1 above for hotel, eats, though if you want to be easy walking distance to those two restaurants, the Park Inn is right around the corner from both and you'd be directly across the street from 5/3 Field for Mudhens baseball (no games, but nice view), close to Huntington Arena IF there's any kind of shows, games that weekend. It puts you right next to the Warehouse District, which has a few more bar/restaurants, and across the street from Blarney is Table 44, which I'm told is very good. If you're in town long enough and like this sort of thing, see the Toledo Zoo, and the Museum of Art rivals most any in the country. I will leave it to others to give you good spots for 20-somethings nightlife.

Tony Packos, across the street from 5/3 field ticket office for the famous hungarion hotdog. About block or 2 from the Park Inn. I have friends in Nasaua, NH. Their daughter graduated from UH.

yeah, go to the original packos, go
go to the art museum. great art museums are fun dates (if you're into art go for 3 hrs, if not go for 1) plus the working glass museum is across the street and sometimes people will show you around and you can watch live glassblowing. then, go to dinner or a bar.
late night after the game we'd always grab pizza from ginos, which is the old school local pizza joint, it's near the hood which shortens some people's breathing causing anxiousness, but for me its been homey for 35 years, has the best pizza in the world (get a small pepperoni and onion well done, and something off the wall w cajun sauce as well and spend less than 20 bucks).
do not. i repeat, do not go cruising around expect to bump into cool little local spots. toledo is a smaller city that nearly was a big one and is spread out over a large area with a lot of old industrial or undeveloped or fairly quiet neighborhoods. there are dead spots. you want to have a plan and locations.
if the man in the family wants to win some points for romance go to one of the botanical gardens or metroparks and surprise your lady with her favorite somethin.

May I suggest a visit to the Oliver House -it is within walking distance of the downtown hotels and is near 5/3 Field. If you choose to drive it has plentiful free parking. It is in a very interesting bldg. on the riverfront with nice views of the river & bridges while you dine. It has a fine dining (Rockwell's}restaurant and a sandwiches & pizza with local brewed beer place called The Pub. It is worth going to just to see the bldg., a turn of the century ( 18=1900) hotel which was used for storage for years.

New Kids on the Block is my favourite band of 90s. NKOTB had so many hits! The ones I remember are 'Tonight', 'Baby, I Believe In You' and, of course their hit 'Step By Step'. These are real songs, not garbage like today! And it is sooo good NKOTB have a tour in 2019! And I'm going to attend New Kids on the Block concert this year. The concert setlist is here: New Kids on the Block tour Newark. Check it out and maybe we can even visit one of the concerts together!
